Today, HURDO Somalia proudly launched the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence. They are joining millions around the world in the fight to end all forms of violence against women and girls. Under this year’s powerful global theme, “End Digital Violence Against All Women and Girls,” we reaffirm our commitment to addressing both traditional and emerging forms of GBV. Especially the increasing threats women and girls face online, including harassment, cyberbullying, exploitation, and misinformation.
With the generous support of action medeor e.V., today’s launch brought together women leaders, youth advocates, community activists, and local stakeholders. They united their voices to raise awareness, educate communities, and promote safer, more inclusive digital and physical spaces for everyone. The event featured discussions, storytelling, advocacy messages, and collective calls for action. These aimed at preventing violence and promoting gender equality across our communities.
HURDO Somalia remains unwavering in its dedication to empowering women and girls. They focus on strengthening community protection mechanisms and ensuring that vulnerable groups receive the support and protection they deserve. Our ongoing work continues to shine a spotlight on the urgent need for stronger laws, safer online environments, and community-driven solutions. These initiatives prioritize the dignity, rights, and wellbeing of every woman and girl.
As we begin this year’s 16 Days Campaign, we remind everyone that there is #NoExcuses for gender-based violence whether online or offline. Together, we can build a safer, more equal, and just world for every woman and girl.
