HURDO Somalia is a Somali women-led organization based in Mogadishu. We are proud to be one of the most active NGOs in the country, focused on youth empowerment, protection, and community development.
Recently, we led a powerful training aimed at preventing Gender-Based Violence (GBV) among young people. This session brought together adolescents and young adults, especially from Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) communities. These communities face high risks, so urgent action was needed.
The training focused on school-related GBV, where many students experience fear instead of safety. Our goal was to help them understand their rights and build safer learning environments. Through group work and discussions, participants explored causes of GBV and how to stop it.
Moreover, they learned how to report abuse, support each other, and lead change in their schools. They shared personal experiences and practical ideas for solutions. As a result, they left the training feeling confident and ready to act.
Thanks to the strong support from StrongerTogether – action medeor e.V., we made this training a success. You can explore more about their global health projects.
As a Somali women-led organization, HURDO continues to lead impactful programs. We focus on education, gender equality, and the protection of vulnerable groups. You can learn more about our ongoing work at www.hurdo.org.
