Coordination and Review Meeting in Banadir Region

March 03, 2026

HURDO Somalia successfully convened a Coordination and Review Meeting with key stakeholders under the transformative project “Voice of Somali Women in Movement Building” in the Banadir Region. The meeting brought together women leaders, community representatives, youth advocates, civil society actors, and development partners to reflect on progress, strengthen collaboration, and collectively shape the next phase of implementation.

The gathering served as a strategic platform for open dialogue and shared learning. Participants reviewed project achievements to date, assessed emerging challenges, and explored practical solutions to enhance impact at both community and institutional levels. Through interactive discussions and participatory feedback sessions, stakeholders identified opportunities to strengthen women’s leadership networks, improve advocacy strategies, and promote more inclusive decision-making spaces across the region.

A key highlight of the meeting was the reaffirmation of collective commitment to feminist movement building in Somalia. Women leaders shared inspiring testimonies on how the project has increased their confidence, visibility, and engagement in community governance processes. Youth representatives emphasized the importance of intergenerational collaboration in sustaining long-term change, while community elders and partners underscored the value of inclusive dialogue in advancing social cohesion.

The Coordination and Review Meeting further reinforced the importance of structured stakeholder engagement as a foundation for sustainable development. By fostering transparency, accountability, and collective ownership, the platform strengthened partnerships and enhanced alignment around shared objectives — particularly in promoting gender equality and women’s meaningful participation in leadership and civic spaces.

We extend our sincere appreciation to our valued donor, Doria Feminist Fund, for their generous support and steadfast commitment to amplifying the voices of Somali women. Their partnership continues to play a vital role in advancing feminist movement building, strengthening local leadership capacities, and promoting inclusive governance across Somalia.

Together, we remain committed to advancing inclusive leadership, gender equality, and stronger community participation — ensuring that Somali women are not only heard but are central to shaping the future of their communities and nation.
