Departmental objective:

Enhancing Livelihoods: Offering livelihood interventions, such as supporting farmer cooperatives, providing gardening inputs to
Infant and Young Child Feeding groups, and issuing business grants to help communities rebuild their economic stability.
Building Resilience: Strengthening the capacity of crisis-affected communities through training on gender equality, conflict management, accountable leadership, and other crucial topics to equip them with the knowledge to better withstand future shocks.

HURDO is committed to improving livelihoods for vulnerable communities across Somalia by implementing targeted interventions that promote economic resilience and food security. Through initiatives such as vocational training, cash assistance, and support for small-scale farming, HURDO helps families rebuild their livelihoods and break the cycle of poverty. The organization also provides agricultural inputs, tools, and training for farmers, enabling them to boost food
production and adapt to climate-related challenges.

Department Components :

Food Distribution and Nutrition Support :

Providing food aid to vulnerable individuals and families through food distribution centers, community kitchens, and mobile food pantries.
Offering nutrition education and counseling to promote healthy eating habits, breastfeeding practices, and micronutrient supplementation.

Agricultural Development and Sustainable Farming :

Supporting smallholder farmers with access to seeds, tools, and training in sustainable agriculture practices.
Promoting agroecology, organic farming, and permaculture techniques to improve soil fertility, crop diversity, and resilience to climate change.

Livelihoods Diversification and Income Generation :

Facilitating income-generating activities and livelihoods diversification initiatives to reduce reliance on agriculture and enhance economic resilience.
Providing vocational training, entrepreneurship development, and microfinance services to help individuals start small businesses and generate sustainable incomes.
