HURDO Empowers 20 Women and Girls Through Entrepreneurship Training in Mogadishu

Empowering Women Through Entrepreneurship and Sustainable Livelihoods in Mogadishu

Humanitarian Umbrella for Relief and Development Organization (HURDO Somalia), in partnership with action medeor e.V. and with financial support from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), continues to advance women's economic empowerment through the Stronger Together project in Hodan District, Mogadishu.

As part of this initiative, HURDO successfully conducted Income Generating Activities (IGA) and entrepreneurship training for 20 women and girls from internally displaced persons (IDP) and host communities. The training aimed to strengthen participants' economic capacities, improve their entrepreneurial knowledge, and promote sustainable livelihood opportunities.

Strengthening Business and Financial Management Skills

The training provided participants with essential knowledge and practical skills in entrepreneurship, business planning, financial management, and sustainable income generation.

Participants learned how to identify potential business opportunities, develop basic business plans, manage financial resources, and make informed decisions to support small-scale income-generating activities.

These skills are expected to enhance their capacity to establish and manage small businesses, improve household income opportunities, and work towards greater financial independence.

Promoting Women's Economic Independence and Community Resilience

Economic empowerment plays a vital role in improving women's livelihoods, strengthening household resilience, and promoting inclusive community development.

By investing in women's entrepreneurial skills, the Stronger Together project seeks to address economic vulnerabilities and expand opportunities for women and girls affected by displacement and socioeconomic challenges.

The initiative also encourages women's active participation in local economic activities, enabling them to contribute to their families' well-being and the broader development of their communities.

Building Sustainable Livelihoods Through Partnership

The training forms part of HURDO's broader commitment to strengthening community resilience, promoting gender equality, and supporting sustainable livelihood solutions for vulnerable populations in Somalia.

Through continued collaboration with action medeor e.V. and funding from BMZ, HURDO is working to equip women and girls with the knowledge, skills, and opportunities needed to improve their economic prospects.

HURDO's Continued Commitment

HURDO Somalia remains committed to empowering women and girls, strengthening sustainable livelihoods, and creating inclusive economic opportunities for internally displaced and host communities.

Through the Stronger Together project, HURDO will continue promoting women's economic participation, self-reliance, and long-term community resilience.

Together, we are building stronger, more inclusive, and economically resilient communities in Somalia.
